Monday, March 4th
STEM/STEAM:
Today in class we finished our rocket design building and tomorrow we will be working on creating the silhouette to test for the center of mass and center of balance. Good Luck building and finishing today!!!
6th Grade:
Happy Monday!
March 4th: Today in class we passed back papers, and went over our warm up practice sheets on cell organelle riddles and analogies. After answers were discussed we worked on page 71 and 72 in the notebook. Finish the definitions for each terms on 71 and work on the comparison of plant and animal cells on page 72. Resources for the reading and textbook info needed are located in Google Classroom.

STEM/STEAM: This week we created teams and started the blueprints and task of creating our bottle rockets. Teams were given engineering criteria, budget, materials and started building rockets this week for our water bottle rocket launches next week!
6th GRADE:
Welcome Back! (all needed videos and materials are located in our Google Classroom!)
Monday: In class we finished our microscope lab and discussed how increasing magnification will decrease the field of view. Some groups viewed the plant cell, today we will work on the plant and animal cell views and drawings.
Hwk: Finish microscope lab, work on the Fieldwork Progress check form and write up your summary as well as get your parent signature.
Tuesday: In class today we worked on our Cells lab and viewed the Anacharis as well as the cheek cell. This lab work is due tomorrow.
Homework: Cell worksheets, use your resources below to help you answer questions.
Wednesday: We learned the Cells Rap song and started to discuss more about organelles and the structure and function of them. Song is attached below!
Studyguide Worksheet was homework.
Thursday: We watched the video about Cells from Amoeba sisters. We continued to work on handouts and colored parts of our organelles. Finish your cell practice worksheets for homework due tomorrow!
Friday: Today in class we took notes on page 70 of the notebook, we also worked on cutting and glueing in the flip books for our notebooks and for studying. Unit test is soon!
We turned in our homework packet on cell organelles and also the Fieldwork Progress check for February.

Happy Ski Break! This SNOW is AWESOME!!!
Have a great break, here is what we did or what you missed on FRIDAY!
STEM/STEAM: Today in class we had time to run through the presentations and started group presentations. We will finish the rest on Monday when we return and possibly Tuesday as well. Please make sure to turn in work on time as late work is credited at 75% and is deducted to a passing but not A/B grade.
6th Grade: In class we worked on the microscope slides and prepared the letter e for viewing. We observed and did scientific drawings at the 4x, 10x, and 40x objectives. We will be moving onto the cheek and plant cells observations with the microscopes after the break.
Please consider using your iPad to download the APP titled HudsonAlpha iCell and 3D Cell+ to study the cell and the organelles that it contains. Both these APPs are free and helpful and fun to learn your organelles for the Unit exam coming up after the break, in early March!
