** I will walk you through the Greens survey when I return to school. Until then please hold off as your iPad is not communicating with the website and we may have to do it a different way. It is not officially homework so there is no worry that you will not receive points, we will figure it out when I get back!
Monday: In class work on Keynote
Tuesday: Do Global Warming class work and finish Keynote, take it home for Homework if needed, your share out is Wednesday.
Wednesday: Share out Keynote answers, maximum of three minutes
Thursday: Your Notebook is due!!!!
Friday: Finish your Fieldwork, it is due on December 21st.
If you have questions please email me at tsanchez@mbusd.org. Thanks!
Students: Please use
the blog today so that you can fill in your calendars and so that you know what
you need to do today in class. You will
be choosing a partner today and you will be researching a question about Global
warming. You will need to cite three
credible websites/webpages where you got your information, you will need to
answer your question to the best of your ability and be ready to share out the
information you gathered.
You and your partner will be putting together a Keynote for
your share out! You will need :
Slide one: Question
slide, Student names
Slide two: Webpage
cited, information you found out
Slide three: Webpage
cited, more information you found out
Slide four: Webpage
cited, more information you found out
Slide five: Your
conclusion and answer to the question you studied. Be sure to
Use the data you researched to make a final statement or conclusion
in summary and that it answers the original question on slide one. You also need three images/graphics for your Keynote, please place them throughout the presentation to enhance your ideas and info.
Practice and be ready to share out your information.
Turn the keynote into Ebackpack for credit!!! Be ready for Wednesday share out!
Student Questions:
Only one pair can sign up for one of the following questions per
period. Please make sure to sign up with the teacher and that there is no overlap.
1.
Which cities are greatly threatened by sea level
rise and would be the first underwater?
2.
What ways can we remove CO2 from the atmosphere? Is there any new technology or ways we can
capture CO2 so it does not go into the atmosphere automatically?
3.
What are the current statistics on how much CO2
is in the atmosphere right now and how much scientists predict it will rise per
year?
4.
Which animal and plant species are threatened
greatly by global warming? Do some thorough research and find species that have
been affected or will be affected first.
5.
What is the fastest way global warming can be
stopped? This should be detailed and include what governments, businesses and
citizens need to do and what has already been done thus far.
6.
If global temperatures continue to rise to 6
degrees Celsius, what will happen to humans? How are they affected when other
parts of the ecosystem are affected?
7.
What is happening to our oceans due to global
warming? What has happened to water
temperatures and what has that done to species living in the ocean?
8.
What are the predictions for 2050 and 2100 based
on continued output of CO2? What is the
fate of the Earth?
9.
What can I do on a daily basis to really cut
down on my CO2 output? This needs to be
a plan that all middle schoolers can achieve and it needs to be detailed and
thorough, saying walk to school is not enough, you need to come up with an
expert plan.
10. What
is nuclear fusion? Where are we at with
creating a reactor? Will it be done in
time to help with global warming? What
do we know so far?
11. What
is the role that China plays in global warming?
What do the statistics and data say about their CO2 over the last 30
years? How much of an increase have they
contributed really?
12. Why
are power plants that use fossil fuels so bad for the environment? Research and give statistics on their CO2
output versus alternate ways we can get energy?
Is it realistic to switch from fossils fuels? What would be our best course of action as we
coexist and find new technology to help us deal with global warming?
13. Can
animals adapt fast enough to deal with global warming? What animals have changed or altered life in
a way to deal with global warming?
14. What
is happening in Greenland right now?
Explain how things have changed over the last 30-50 years, what is the
problem and how are the people there trying to deal with life as it is now?
15.
Is there a lot of debate and disagreement among
climate scientists about the causes and effects of global warming?
16.
Is global warming a threat to humans? If so,
how?
17.
Can we slow or even reduce global warming, if
so how?
18.
If the globe is still warming, then why are some
locations not warming while others have experienced cooling?
19.
How strong is the scientific evidence that Earth is
warming and that humans are the main cause?
20.
Couldn't the sun be the cause of the recent global
warming? Research about the sun’s energy
from 1970 until today, also which layers of the atmosphere have heated, have
all of them increased in temperature?
21. If we ignore global warming altogether what will happen and how fast with that happen? Research what the data and models suggest.
