After discussing our results we determined as a class that the Sample A had signs of life! Living things respond to the environment, need and use energy, maintain homeostasis, grow and reproduce, as well as are made up of cells!
In our Alive or Not? lab work please answer questions 8 -11 as follows:
#8: Describe what we added and why? What does each item represent? (sugar, water, heat)
#9: What does the data suggest? Was there any signs of life in our petri dishes? What did we see in the sugar test, water test and heat test that we can describe for each sample...What does that say about each sample? Was there a living thing in one of them?
#10: Explain which of the samples were alive and why. Defend your claim with three observations that are evidence that it was alive. In the Cells Folder in Ebackpack take a look at the pictures of the Samples titled Alive or Not Pictures. This may offer clues to characteristics of living things.
#11 Classify the living organism as plant, animal, bacteria, fungi, or protist based on what you observed and what behavior or structures were seen.
