Shrinky Dink Cells!
Step 1: Tape on the cell drawing templates onto your
plastic sheet of Shrinky Dink material. Color the cell. Using a black sharpie pen, outline the plant cell and animal cell and
all their organelles.
Step 2: Allow the plastic sheet to dry for 1 minute
while you label the different organelles on the drawings as a test prep
activity.
Step 3: Take off the tape and paper template on the Shrinky Dink.
Step 4: At home…
Preheat
toaster or conventional oven to 325-350 degrees.
Cut
a rectangle shape out of a brown grocery bag or parchment paper. Turn one corner up (turned-up corner will
make it easy to remove from tray or cookie sheet.)
Step
5: Place Shrinky Dinks pieces, colored
side up, on brown paper or parchment and place paper on tray or cookie sheet. Put into the
pre-heated oven.
Step
6: Watch as your Shrinky Dinks shrink.
Bake approximately 1-3 minutes. After pieces lay flat, allow an additional 30
seconds of baking time to complete the process.
Remove paper from tray or
cookie sheet and lightly press FLAT with chopsticks, or wooden spoon. A folded paper or pad of paper- until pieces
have cooled.
Voilà! You have a cool project you can attach to
your back pack as a zipper pull or you can attach your shrinky dinks to your
Cell Flip Charts or make them into Holiday ornaments to hang up in your house
or on your holiday tree!
Good Luck!
